Meet These NH Families

Jen Major & Kelley Morris

I met Kelley in 2002 during a very dark time in my life. It was love at first sight; in her eyes I felt hope and safety and I felt like I had come home. Although there were many obstacles we had to face before we could be together, we had our commitment ceremony last November, celebrating our love with our families of choice, our friends.

We have been through more together in our few short years than many couples experience in a lifetime. One of the most difficult was Kelley's mysterious paralysis and subsequent back surgery. I sat for 14 hours in a hospital waiting room, only to be ignored by hospital staff who were supposed bring me to her when she awoke from surgery. She awoke scared and alone. Despite the fact we had just submitted notarized living wills on each other to the hospital, we were not given the dignity and respect many couples take for granted.

I want to marry my soul mate so that we can live and thrive just like any other couple.  Currently, I'm fighting with my mortgage company who is not allowing Kelley to be put on my mortgage.

There are so many rights and protections that are not afforded to us. We will fight for our right to be free and treated equally under the US Constitution, even if it takes our entire lifetime together. - Jennifer Major
